RAY D’INVERNO 80TH BIRTHDAY CONCERT

Sunday 5th March 2023, 3:00pm

Join us as we celebrate the 80th birthday of one of Southampton’s most celebrated musicians.

Pianist Ray d’Inverno relocated to West Dorset a few years ago, in part to set up his own recording studio. For many years he ran Southampton Jazz Club, alongside his career as a Professor of Mathematics and General Relativity at Southampton University.

Ray has played in every format from solo piano to leading a big band. He has performed alongside some of the UK’s leading jazz musicians over the years and has released thirty albums. This afternoon’s specially devised event is a family celebration featuring Ray himself with his quintet Quintessential Groove, his pianist son Mark, a number of special guests – and plenty of cake!

Presented by Turner Sims in association with Southampton Jazz Club
