Each year, a prominent female leader is invited to discuss an important aspect of business.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">The lecture is devoted to the memory of Dame Helen Alexander, a much loved and pioneering figure in British business, and supported by three organisations that she was closely associated with: The Economist, Informa and the University of Southampton.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;"> </p><p style="margin-left:0px;">This year's speaker will be <strong>Dame Amanda Blanc</strong>, chief executive of Aviva.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">Dame Amanda has been the<strong> </strong>group chief executive officer of Aviva since 2020. She was previously the CEO EMEA & Global Banking at Zurich Insurance Group, and Group CEO AXA UK. <strong>Blanc</strong> was also the first woman to chair the Association of British Insurers, in addition to being a past president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;"><strong>Blanc</strong> was ranked 33rd on Fortune's list of Most Powerful Women in 2023 and appointed her damehood in 2024 for services to business, gender equality and net-zero.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">She has also recently been assigned as an advisor to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">The 2024 Lecture is available to all guests online and will begin from 18:30pm.</p>"^^http://purl.org/xtypes/Fragment-XHTML
