JULIAN SIEGEL JAZZ ORCHESTRA | TALES FROM THE JACQUARD
Thursday 9th February 2023, 8:00pm
The Julian Siegel Jazz Orchestra features some of Julian’s favourite musicians from the UK and European scenes. This is a rare opportunity to see this handpicked, stellar line-up perform together.
The band perform the suite Tales from the Jacquard, commissioned by Derby Jazz and composed especially for them. Tales from the Jacquard draws inspiration from the lace-making process and the Jacquard cards, which controlled the lace knitting machines. (Julian’s parents and family ran a lace manufacturing business in Nottingham for over 50 years).
The concert also features Julian’s arrangements of music written for small band, and new compositions written for this tour.
