TRICHOTOMY

Tuesday 28th March 2023, 8:00pm

Australian piano trio Trichotomy are back, showcasing a suite of new material from their brilliant new release To Vanish. It’s been nearly 10 years since the trio last hit the Turner Sims stage. Audiences may recall pianist Sean Foran from a performance with his UK band in 2016, with music from his excellent Frame of Reference album.

A trailblazing group in the Australian jazz scene, the trio gained a UK following after a string of celebrated albums on the NAIM label, and repeated tours to clubs around the country.

Trichotomy have a 20 year history of performing together. They have collaborated with dance companies, jazz, folk and classical artists around the world. They have toured Japan, China, Canada, South America, Australia and New Zealand. This is a group that thrive on the spontaneity of the trio format. They have carved out a distinctive sound, full of melodic detail and rich improvised interplay.

They bring music from new release To Vanish, blending acoustic and electronic soundscapes. The music is detailed, full of surprises, restless, curious and inventive.
